Privacy Policy
How the current CGT Desk desktop application stores working data and how the website handles downloads and shared accounts.
Desktop application data
CGT Desk is designed around local entity files. The user chooses where the .cgtdesk working file is saved, and backups are created beside the working file.
Information stored in an entity file
Depending on use, a file can contain entity configuration, transactions, valuations, accounts, statements, documents, reconciliations and source references such as original filenames and spreadsheet rows.
Current storage limitation
The current project architecture uses JSON-formatted .cgtdesk application files and does not claim encrypted entity-file storage. Protect the storage location with operating-system and device security controls.
Website accounts
The website account system is shared across this software site. LedgerDesk currently uses registration, licensing and device-management features. CGT Desk does not require registration yet. Visiting or downloading CGT Desk does not require creating an account.
Downloads
CGT Desk download information is read from the public GitHub Releases API. Downloading an installer or opening a release page is handled by GitHub and may be subject to GitHub's own policies.
Future changes
This policy should be updated before CGT Desk introduces cloud synchronization, telemetry, online file processing or any other feature that transmits entity-file content to an external service.
