Reports & planning

From a Trial Balance to a twenty-four-month cash projection — the Report Center groups everything the way a desktop accounting package does.

Report Center

Reports → Report Centercovers P&L, comparative P&L, Balance Sheet, comparative Balance Sheet, Trial Balance, General Ledger, A/R and A/P aging, customer/vendor summaries, sales and expense reports, dimension reports, Chart of Accounts, transaction search, and the audit log.

Drilldown

Click any account name or amount cell in a summary report to open the underlying transactions for that exact period or column, including comparative columns. Invoice and bill detail rows open the original form for editing where your role permits.

Customizing

Right-click inside any report for Customize, row spacing, gridlines, Print, and PDF export. The customization window controls font size, heading size, row density, gridlines, account numbers/descriptions, zero balances, activity, dimensions, headers/footers, disclaimers, and page numbers — remembered per company and per report type.

Comparisons

Profit & Loss comparisons support equal prior period, same period last year, previous month, previous quarter, previous calendar year, or custom dates.

Cash vs. accrual basis

Applicable reports include an Accounting Basis toggle between Accrual and Cash. Switching to Cash basis recomputes the report from payment activity rather than invoice/bill posting dates — useful for cash-basis tax filers without a second set of books. The chosen basis shows in the report header and carries into PDF/print/Excel exports.

Saving and exporting

  • Memorized report layouts save your customization for reuse.
  • Report packages bundle multiple reports with cover-page settings — handy for a monthly board or client package.
  • Report formulas let you define calculated KPIs.
  • Export to PDF, Excel-compatible spreadsheet with live formulas on calculated columns, CSV, or print — PDF/print uses a plain black-and-white financial-statement layout.

Financial Statement Designer

Build fully custom statement layouts — headings, account groupings, formulas, emphasis, indentation, and page breaks — beyond the standard report set.

Audit Log

Searchable by action, entity, summary, date/time, and record ID. Rows link directly to the transaction they describe.

Budgets, forecasts, and cash planning

  • Budgets (Accountant → Budgets): individual monthly amounts, or a yearly total distributed across twelve months.
  • Scenario forecasts: project revenue, expenses, and net income monthly or yearly, seeded from prior-year actuals.
  • Cash planning: projects expected customer receipts, vendor payment requirements, and ending cash 3, 6, 12, or 24 months out.
  • AP Planning: overdue bills, possible duplicate bills, monthly cash requirements, and bills awaiting approval — worth checking before a payment run.

Fixed assets

Accountant → Fixed Asset Manager:

  1. Add an asset with its number, purchase date, in-service date, cost, salvage value, useful life, and linked accounts.
  2. Choose a depreciation method: straight-line, double-declining, units-of-production, or no depreciation.
  3. Review depreciation monthly or yearly, and post individually or in a batch — LedgerDesk won't post beyond an asset's depreciable basis.
  4. When an asset is sold, the sale workflow can optionally daily-prorate depreciation up to the sale date.

Full history of posted depreciation is kept against each asset.
